Understanding Your Purchase: Key Information
Before reading the full Terms and Conditions, here are some important points to be aware of:

Order Cancellation: You may cancel your order within 14 days of placing it (see clause 1.6).

Delivery Checks: Any damage, errors or missing items must be noted on the signed delivery note and reported immediately to the delivery team.

Leather Variation: Leather is a natural product — colour, texture and grain variations are completely normal and not considered faults. Samples are a guide only.

Natural Markings: Genuine leather may show healed scars, insect bites, wrinkles, barbed-wire marks and other natural characteristics. These are part of its authenticity.

Stock Items: Only items listed in our Clearance section are held in stock. All other items are made to order to your chosen specification.
1. Terms and Conditions of Trading
These Terms and Conditions apply to all consumer contracts between The English Sofa Company (a trading name of Forest Sofa Ltd) and you, the customer, for the sale of goods and services.
1.1. Product Specifications
1.1.1. Ongoing Product Development
We operate a continuous improvement policy. Product specifications may change without prior notice for future orders.
1.1.2. Display Variations
Items supplied may differ slightly from those displayed or advertised. Any significant variations on display models will be clearly highlighted.
1.1.3. Fabric Variation
We make every effort to match fabrics to sample swatches, but natural and batch variations in colour and texture may occur.
1.1.4. Leather Variation
Our leather is 100% genuine and selected for quality. Natural marks, scars and grain variations are normal. Some leathers develop patina and may lighten or darken with age, sunlight or heat.
1.2. Measurements
1.2.1. Manufacturing Tolerance
All sizes are approximate and may vary within ±7% due to handmade production processes.
1.3. Prices
1.3.1. VAT
Prices include VAT at the prevailing UK rate and reflect any promotions in place.
1.3.2. Pricing Errors
If a pricing error occurs, we reserve the right to decline the order. You will be contacted before production begins.
1.4. Payments
1.4.1. Payment Before Production
Full payment is required before production can commence.
1.4.2. Balance Payment
Once your goods are complete, we will notify you. Any outstanding balance becomes due immediately. Late payments incur interest at 3% per month.

We accept Credit/Debit Card, Cheque and Bank Transfer.

1.5. Delivery
1.5.1. Delivery Scheduling
We will contact you to arrange delivery once your furniture is ready.
1.5.2. Delivery Service

UK mainland delivery available.

Surcharges may apply for Highlands and offshore postcodes.

Deliveries take place Monday–Friday, between 7am and 9pm.

A 4-hour time slot is provided the evening before delivery.

Delivery is to a room of your choice (subject to access).

Maximum of two flights of stairs unless lift access is available.

You must ensure clear access and parking. Failed delivery due to access issues may incur a redelivery fee.
Our carriers typically deliver within 10 working days of collecting your items.
1.5.3. Delivery Charge
A contribution of £99 is required for UK mainland deliveries.
1.5.4. Supplier Delays
If your chosen leather/fabric becomes temporarily unavailable, we will contact you to arrange a revised delivery date.
1.5.5. Delivery Damage
If accidental damage occurs during delivery, our liability is limited to repair, replacement or refund.
Any damage must be noted on the delivery note, otherwise claims may be invalid.
Maximum compensation for property damage is £150 inc VAT, subject to assessment.
1.5.6. Delivery Timescales
Delivery times are estimates. We cannot be held responsible for direct/indirect financial loss due to delays outside our control.
1.5.7. Export Deliveries
Export deliveries are kerbside only and require access for a 40ft trailer. All issues must be recorded on the delivery note.
1.6. Returns and Refunds
1.6.1. Eligibility
Our 14-day returns policy applies only to non-bespoke, domestic, UK mainland orders.
Corner sofas and any customised items are considered bespoke and are not returnable unless faulty.
Stock items are sold as seen, not subject to the standard returns policy, and must be returned at the customer’s expense.
1.6.1.2. Cancellation Period
If you have not visited our showroom before ordering, you may cancel within 14 days of delivery by email or recorded post.
1.6.1.4. Refund Processing
Refunds are issued within 14 days of cancellation or return proof, via the original payment method.
1.6.2. Condition of Returned Goods
Items must be returned in new, unused condition.
1.6.3. Faulty Goods
We will attempt in-situ repair first. If repair is not possible, we will collect the item for factory repair or provide a replacement. If no suitable replacement exists, a refund will be issued.
1.6.4. Exclusions
Returns/cancellations do not apply to:
• Bespoke orders
• Stock clearance
• Overseas deliveries
• Accessories and cabinet furniture
Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
1.7. Guarantees
1.7.3. Guarantee Coverage

15-year guarantee for frame and springs

12-month guarantee for upholstery materials and non-structural components
Trade customers receive 1-year cover only.
Exclusions
Guarantee does not cover fading, wear and tear, staining, corrosion, humidity damage, sunlight damage, infestation, or improper care.
1.7.4. Non-transferable
Guarantee applies only to the original purchaser with proof of purchase.
1.8. Guarantee Claims
Issues must be reported immediately. Delayed reporting may invalidate the claim.
Unauthorised repairs void the guarantee.
Repairs will be completed by The English Sofa Company or our approved partners.
If repair is impossible, a replacement of similar value will be provided.
1.9. Internet/Web Purchases
1.9.1. Bespoke Orders
Bespoke upholstery cannot be cancelled once accepted.
1.9.2. Right to Cancel
Non-bespoke items bought online may be cancelled within 14 days of delivery in as-new condition with original packaging.
1.9.5. Website Information
We work to ensure accuracy but cannot guarantee colour representation or error-free content.
We reserve the right to refuse any order.
Use of our website is at your own risk. English law applies.
1.10. Data Protection
We process personal data in line with the Data Protection Act and current legislation.
1.11. Applicable Law
Contracts are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
